🌿 Radical Remedies tincture making session 🌿 Thur 17th Aug 6-8pm

We’ll be processing the variety of herbs we’ve recently foraged. We’ll
chat through the herbs and their uses then collectively decide what we’d
like to tincture (alcohol and glycerine) and macerate (oil), thinking
through what blends and balms we’d like to make at the following
sessions. All welcome! No prior tincture making knowledge needed!
*Please bring along your own jar to take a tincture sample home with
you!*

Radical Remedies is an evolving collective of friends, comrades and
herbalists whose work focuses on skill sharing theoretical and practical
knowledge of medicinal plants to support each other, social movements
and those in need. Since 2021 RR have organised foraging walks, remedy
making workshops and weekend long events. We aim to create support
networks in collaboration with other groups to reclaim autonomy over our own health, access to green spaces and promote respect and connection to one another as well as the natural environment around.

BKSN: DINNER AND SOLIDARITY PICTURE! FRI 9TH JUNE 6-9PM

DINNER AND SOLIDARITY PICTURE

The fascist president of Turkey, Erdoğan, keeps his grip on power after the elections in Turkey at the end of May. Despite this blow our friends in north Kurdistan keep hope and keep fighting for a free and loving world. We want to show them that people in this island care and stand with them.

Come join us for dinner, after food we plan to walk up to the painting for the Kurdish revolutionary, and one of the leaders of the Kurdish Freedom Movement, Abdullah Öcalan on the cycle path (near Greenbank cemetery about 15 minute walk from BASE). We will then send the picture to our friends in the region.

NATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY: Sun 14th May: Workshop, Cafe & Film: TRANSFARMING SWITZERLAND

What happens when farmers have a change of heart?

A We Animals Media short film directed by Thomas Machowicz and Sabina Diethelm.

“Transfarming Switzerland” documents one animal activist’s unconventional approach: to work with – not against – animal farmers. Sarah Heiligtag transforms animal farms into vegan farms and animal sanctuaries across Switzerland and neighbouring countries.

It is the farmers themselves who, because of growing moral concerns, come to struggle with raising and slaughtering their animals to earn a living. Looking to make a drastic change in their business, these conflicted animal farmers learn about Sarah, make contact with her and together they develop a plan to transform.

These changes are challenging both practically and emotionally: the farmers must adapt infrastructure and finances, but also defy deep-rooted farming practices and family traditions. Despite this, Sarah has transformed more than 100 farms to date, proving to many within the farming industry that change and progress are possible for those who seek a different relationship with animals .

We are working on a flyer with info about the Art Workshop and will forward to you shortly, when finished. All are welcome to join in our preparations for the National Animal Rights Day Bristol March.
